"RED HAIRED BOYS" IN CONCERT
BLUE GRASS GROUP, “RED HAIRED BOYS” IN CONCERT AT TROY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Sunday, March 14 at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
You are invited to enjoy a morning of blue grass music and worship with special guest group “The Red Haired Boys” from Troy, Illinois at the Troy United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 14.
The Red Haired Boys are a quartet of bluegrass musicians from Marine, Illinois consisting of Daniel Moore on Guitar, Tim Moore, on the Guitar and Mandolin, Todd Moore on the Banjo, and Tyler Moore on the Fiddle. Having their start playing Gospel, Bluegrass, and Folk music together as a family about 15 years ago, they have now played for thousands across much of Illinois and Missouri. As a quartet, they have been together for five years and loving every minute of it. Their real drive as a band is to have fun and honestly, that is what they do.
Individually: Tyler has won countless Fiddle contests across the Midwest including; Illinois State Fair Open Fiddle Champion, Illinois Old Time Junior as well as Open Fiddle Champion, and Madison County Fair Open Fiddle Champion. Todd has placed in several contests, including; 2nd and 3rd place Illinois State Fair Champion, and 3rd Place Illinois Appletime Banjo Competition. As a band; they have won the Regional Colgate Country Music Showdown.
A quote from the band: “We are an easygoing bunch. The song "Daddy Sang Bass" by Johnny Cash pretty much sums us up....except for that whole part about 'little brother.' That ain’t right...”
Troy United Methodist Church is located at 407 Edwardsville Road (Rte. 162) For further information, please contact the church office at 667-6241 or visit the church website at http://www.troyumc.org/.

MARCH IS AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH
March is American Red Cross Month; Celebrants sought
Since World War II and the days of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, March is proclaimed American Red Cross Month by U.S. presidents.
Throughout the month of March, 750 Red Cross chapters across the country will celebrate in a variety of ways, including holding special events, volunteer training or fundraisers to give people an opportunity to support the organization through donations of time, money or blood.
One way of celebrating is to continue the mission by donating a unit of blood at a Red Cross donor center or neighborhood blood drive. A single donation, which actually takes only a few minutes, can help save the lives of three individuals. It just doesn’t’ get much better than that.
Consider donating blood at TheBANK of Edwardsville in the Basement Conference Room, 330 West Vandalia, Edwardsville, IL., on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 11:30 AM to 2 PM.
Each year the Red Cross collects approximately 6.5 million units of blood, from roughly 4.5 million volunteer blood donors. From these donations, the Red Cross distributes around 9.5 million blood products to patients at approximately 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country.
How to Donate Blood:
To make an appointment please call Nikki at (618) 659-6354. All blood types are needed to ensure the Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other
forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old. New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger
than 19. Visit bloodisneeded.org to learn more.

SIUE PRESENTS SPEED NETWORKING
Back by popular demand, SIUE Speednetworking is the social networking event that brings together SIUE students and alumni professionals. Based on the format of speed dating, attendees will have twelve minutes to network with multiple alumni grouped at tables of eight. Once the twelve minutes is up, students will move to the next table and continue networking. Students will practice his or her "elevator speech" and learn how to make a good first impression. Alumni will talk about their post-college job experience, share networking tips and provide advice on this valuable career skill. Alumni volunteers will have the chance to network during the pre-event networking reception.
Alumni Volunteer Information
Volunteers are needed to serve as the Speednetworking contacts. Alumni volunteers will be grouped at tables of eight and participants will rotate to different table every twelve minutes. Even though you will be modeling effective networking techniques for participants, we hope you will also find the experience useful for your own professional development. Alumni will network and enjoy refreshments with the other volunteers during the pre-event reception from 6:00-6:30pm.
If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the online registration form at http://www.siue.edu/alumni/speednetworking.shtml.
