    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Marketing.
    Two years of business lending experience in a bank, credit union, or similar environment
    Valid state-issued driver’s license and valid insurance coverage that meets Illinois and Missouri minimum requirements.

    The Business Development Officer will be responsible for developing relationships with existing and prospective members with the goal of loan and deposit origination.  Additional responsibilities will include cross-selling business credit cards, and merchant services as well as making referrals to consumer and mortgage lending. The Business Development Officer will meet with existing and prospective members to understand their needs and to build strong relationships.  The Business Development Officer must maintain a strong pipeline of prospective members to achieve established performance objectives and drive desirable business to the Credit Union. This includes spending a significant amount of time in the community developing relationships and calling on current and prospective business owners.   

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; 

    • Analyze and develop strategies for growing business deposits, loans, and merchant services through relationship building with business partners.  Consistently bring in new business members and develop a referral network of centers of influence. 
    • Build, develop, and maintain profitable lending and deposit relationships with new and existing members. Consult with members and prospects to understand their current business practices and identify their financial goals and needs. Recommend solutions to solve their needs and goals. 
    • Work with other departments to uncover sales opportunities with both current and prospective business members.  Make referrals to branches and other departments (e.g. Mortgage, Consumer Loans, etc.) to add additional value to current and prospective member relationships. 
    • Maintain ongoing reporting of the portfolio, including monitoring loan repayment activities and taking necessary action to collect delinquent accounts within the portfolio. 
    • Responsible for obtaining all required documentation prior to loan closing and disbursement of loan proceeds. Works with other department members in the processing of new loans and renewals of existing loans.   
    • Maintain a working pipeline of prospects to meet performance objectives established by senior management. 
    • Effectively communicate with borrowers, staff, and management, including the Business Loan Committee. 
    • Maintain accurate records and files.  This includes, but is not limited to, the tracking and recording of activities with members and prospective members.   
    • As required, assist other department members in answering telephones and receiving walk‑in members, and documenting any member interactions within the applicable Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool 
    • Participates in the appropriate internal and external training which supports the credit union's objectives in Commercial Banking. 
    • Represents credit union during community projects and at public, social, and business gatherings.  This avenue is used to make contacts for new business, and to visit with the current business contacts in a social atmosphere. 
    • Maintain compliance with Credit Union policies and procedures as well as all applicable State and Federal laws regarding Member Business Lending. 
    • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Must meet State and/or Federal requirements to obtain and maintain NMLS licensure.  
    Notary Public Certificate within 3 months of employment, if applicable.

    Full Time Position - Monday through Friday
    Varied hours and schedule depending on operational needs.

    Edwardsville, IL Headquarters - Commercial Banking Department. However, work location may change according to SCU staffing needs.
