This position is a full-time position with GCSCU; a 40-hour work week is scheduled and includes a rich benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, etc.).

    Role:

    To assist the Quality Assurance/Compliance Department with ensuring that the Credit Union is compliant with new and/or existing laws and regulations relevant to the Credit Union Industry, recommending changes to policies and procedures when appropriate.   Serve as the primary point of contact for all questions related to special accounts.  Assist with developing and enforcing procedures to protect assets of the Credit Union along with performing operational, financial and compliance audits as required.

     

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

     

     

    25%

     

    Serve as the subject matter expert for special accounts including, but not limited to IRA, Trust, Organizations, Representative Payee, Estate, UTMA, Guardianships, and Business Accounts.  Establish written procedures on how to create and set-up these accounts;  Respond, research, and resolve requests for assistance from MSRs; and audit new accounts for accuracy.

    Audit loans, wires, accounts, cash counts and other operational areas for compliance, accuracy and completeness and documents results. Gather information for external auditors, examiners, law enforcement, attorneys and others as needed.

    Ensures BSA Compliance by verifying that BSA surveys are completed and that Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports are prepared, accurate and timely.

    Assists in the day-to-day administration of the credit union’s physical security program, including cameras, alarms, keys, and robbery response.

    Assist the Quality Assurance/Compliance Manager in analyzing new and pending laws and regulations which will affect the Credit Union’s operations.  Review compliance related websites and written publications daily to maintain knowledge of pending changes and deadlines.

    Assist training department in areas of accounts and compliance related employee training.

    Assist all departments a needed with compliance and information needs and performs other duties as assigned.

     

    Bank Secrecy Act:
     Remains cognizant of and adheres to GCS Credit Union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

              

    Expectations:

    1.

    To maintain a continuous study of applicable State and Federal Laws, recommending changes when needed.

    2.

    To perform daily, bi‑weekly and monthly reviews and reports accurately, professionally and in a timely manner.

    3.

    To assist in all areas of quality assurance and compliance related situations as needed in an accurate, effective, and professional manner.

    4.

    To support and assist all departments in information needs and training related to specialty accounts and compliance.

    5.

    To maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and associates.

     

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience:

    • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a financial institution or equivalent. 
    • Compliance experience with mortgages, business accounts/loans and cyber security preferred.
    • Experience with IRAs or the willingness to become a Certified IRA Specialist.

    Education:

    A high school education or GED.

    Interpersonal Skills: 

    A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.  Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.  Work may involve motivating or influencing others.  Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.     Ability to work independently and be flexible with daily work plan.

    Other Skills:

    • Attend and successfully complete Regulatory Compliance School‑Introduction within six months of starting position. 
    • Strong verbal and written communications skills.  
    • Detail oriented and highly organized.
    • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on extra tasks.
    • Ability to keep information confidential

     

    Physical Demands:

    This position frequently requires you hear. Occasionally, this position requires stooping, reaching, and talking. On the rare occasion, this position may require lifting up to 10 pounds. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing details on a computer terminal.
