About the Office of Online Services and Educational Outreach

We are currently seeking to fill the role of Advisor II to provide academic advising services to students in online degree programs or paths at SIUE.
The Advisor approves the academic program of study for students, provides innovative academic guidance and assistance for students through short-term and long-term academic planning, course recommendations based on the academic program of study, and appropriate solutions for enhancing student academic progress.
This position disseminates accurate, current curricular information about online academic programs, including major and minor requirements, transfer credit evaluation of new and continuing students, and degree audits for graduating students.
The Advisor assists students in progression toward the appropriate degree by identifying options to satisfy degree requirements, including recommendations for amendments or petitions to a student's academic program of study.
In this role, the Advisor performs administrative tasks which support advising duties and the progression of the student toward graduation, and maintains and manages appropriate academic records.
Additional duties in support of the mission of the Office of Online Services and Educational Outreach may be assigned.

A Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Academic Program within the College of Arts and Sciences, or closely related field is required.
Have a minimum of three years working full-time in the field of academic advising.
Knowledge of college student development, academic advising theory and the college environment is required.
Knowledge of student support services available to college students is required.
Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and personal rapport with diverse populations is required.
Ability to demonstrate administrative and organizational skills is required.
Ability to use computerized student information systems, learning management systems, and Microsoft Office software is required.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures is required.
Preferred applicants would have experience supporting students in online courses and/or programs, the ability to demonstrate how you have assisted students with the adjustment to college-level expectations, and the competency of understanding the specific needs of adult/non-traditional students who seek to complete online degree completion programs.
