  • Health Sciences/Math Specialist - East Saint Louis Campus (grant-funded)

    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this individual will report to the Coordinator, Success Center or the Associate Dean of Success Programs. The work involves overseeing the sciences and math support on the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus and providing direct academic assistance for health sciences, math and workforce programs. The specialist will integrate academic skills and college transitional programming with students and act as liaison between the Success Center and East St. Louis Higher Education Campus. The specialist will work a flexible schedule and may assist at other campuses as needed.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
     

    1. Bachelor's degree in Math/Science or related field required, Master's degree preferred.
    2. Knowledge of developmental math theory, practices, and assessment techniques preferred.
    3. Health care experience or experience teaching/tutoring health sciences required. 
    4. Experience teaching/tutoring developmental math/science preferred.
    5. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
    6. Understanding of the unique needs of students in career programs and a commitment to supporting diverse student populations preferred.
    7. Knowledge of computer applications, software packages, and the Internet required.


    STARTING PAY AND HOURS:

    $226.13 per hour, up to 28 hours per week.
