  • Grounds Worker

        POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    In accordance to the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the full-time Grounds Worker performs and maintains regular and directed grounds and landscape work.  The work with this position is typically performed outdoors and involves considerable manual labor.  Materials used in the performance of duties include various chemical fuels, oils, herbicides, and fertilizers.  Equipment normally used in the performance of duties includes power-assisted mowers and trimmers as well as tractors and light trucks.    

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Functional reading and basic math skills as evidenced by a High School Diploma or GED   

    certificate is required.

    1. Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license.
    2. Prior custodial or grounds keeping work experience of a minimum of two years is required.
    3. Ability to operate power-assisted equipment and to use chemical cleaning agents in an

    approved manner to avoid risk of injury to self or to others and to avoid damage to   

    equipment, fixtures and furnishings is required.

    1. Ability to operate motor vehicles in an approved manner to avoid risk of injury to self or to

    others and to avoid damage to equipment and property is required.

    1. Horticultural training/education is preferred.
     
    STARTING PAY AND HOURS:
