Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications to create a hiring eligibility list for part-time non-commissioned Public Safety Officers at the Belleville and/or Sam Wolf Granite City Campus.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Public Safety Officer is a part-time uniformed position. The position is assigned shifts variably and expected to be available for primarily weekends, and holiday work, and occasional overtime. Public Safety Officers are expected to perform duties in an area of expertise/interest needed by the Department to fulfill its mission and AQIP initiatives. Enforces applicable policies, regulations and laws. Performs work of routine to complex difficulty in guarding and protecting life and property in buildings and on the grounds. Provides available services and assistance to the college community. Regulates the activities of the general public and other persons in the protection of property from fires, theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other hazards. Reports all pertinent information regarding actions occurring during a work shift. Position subject to background check and drug testing upon hiring and randomly thereafter.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or GED required, college degree desirable.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. No record or conviction of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude.
4. Previous law enforcement or security experience and/or training desirable.
5. Possess a valid Driver’s License.
STARTING PAY AND HOURS
$15.00 per hour, up to 28 hours per work.
Belleville Campus or Sam Wolf Granite City Campus. Part-time employees will be assigned shifts to primarily work weekends and holidays.
These positions will remain open until filled or a hiring list established. The hiring list will be in effect for one year or until depleted.
