    Provides strategic leadership and direction for the Voluntary Enrollment experience for Workplace Solutions.  That experience will include a variety of virtual and in-person enrollment solutions, communication materials, project management and coordination, technology tools and third-party relationships that supplement internal capabilities to ensure voluntary premium growth and profitability. Ensures the development and execution of voluntary enrollment strategies, programs and objectives result in achieving annual financial objectives.  Partners with marketing and distribution to execute and operationalize strategic vision.


    Oversees enrollment strategy for new and existing customers in support of the achievement of annual Voluntary Benefits sales and profit goals and objectives. Oversees the process between sales offices, employee benefit brokers, and employers to construct communication and enrollment plans for groups of employees; as well as conducting enrollment meetings at employer locations. Oversees case assignment and training of staff and contracted enrollment personnel to achieve appropriate employee participation results.

    • Sets strategic direction for the Voluntary Enrollment solution, to include both pre- and post-sale processes, making modifications, in partnership with Distribution, as marketplace demands shift. Implements action to impact business results when objectives are not achieved.
      Remains current on industry shifts or changes related to product, compliance and direct, and indirect, competition.  Effectively documents and communicates necessary modifications to the appropriate areas to effect change.

    • Identifies, develops, promotes and maintains positive, strategic relationships with Workplace Solution Distribution leaders.

    • Coordinates efforts within multiple Workplace Solutions and Enterprise functions including Marketing, Actuarial, Finance, Information Services, Agile Release Train, Operations, Compliance and Legal to ensure commitments made are delivered and meet financial objectives.

    • Identifies and establishes relationships with key enrollment firms, technology providers and benefit administration firms in each region.  Negotiates contracts with preferred providers to supplement the services offering by Workplace Solutions.  Develops third-party relationships to operate as extension of Mutual of Omaha.  Consistently monitors relationship performance to ensure return on investment.

    • Plans, leads, and directs activities pertaining to the business area to include: interviewing, selection of subordinate staff; monitoring and appraising performance of subordinates; administering disciplinary action; administering compensation to subordinates; and ensuring compliance with affirmative action guidelines.

    • Responsible for sales presentations, event planning, new hire sales training, and offering sales support.

    • Actively supports Sales in the presale process to include in-person broker and customer interactions and additional support to help finalize sales.

    • Manage sales and profitability of voluntary by providing technical, sales, and training support to Regional Vice Presidents, Field Sales management, brokers and third-party enrollment firms. Assist Group Sales representatives in identifying business needs for potential products and services.  Make field visits with clients, brokers, consultants, and field associates to develop and sell voluntary and worksite marketing opportunities.

    • Oversees the department budget and ensures expenses are within outlined budget controls.

    • Capable of building new teams, tools and solutions internally or by engaging with third-parties to ensure our solution offering is competitive and profitable.

    • Develop and engaged and accountable workforce through a fair and equitable work environment.

    • Oversees the analysis, presentation and utilization of data related to actual and projected voluntary enrollment results and expenses. Generates and presents comprehensive voluntary enrollment reports to senior organizational decision makers.

    • Advance Mutual of Omaha's commitment to diversity and inclusion by working collaboratively and proactively to develop appropriate messaging and communication strategies for all types of voluntary enrollments.

    • Effectively represents Mutual of Omaha at industry conferences and with stakeholders, customers, outside vendors, industry professionals, brokers, etc.

    • Develops and maintains enrollment support training programs with an emphasis on critical skills including voluntary, worksite and employer-paid case set-up, product knowledge, enrollment techniques, presentation skills and other area-specific processes and procedures. Ensures all contractors and third parties are appropriately trained to provide services to WS customers, measures success of third parties and holds those parties accountable to meeting WS standards. 



    • Strong business, insurance industry and systems background
    • Seasoned experience leading strategic initiatives and mission critical teams.
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of voluntary, worksite product enrollment procedures.
    • Experiencing establishing contractual relationships with third party vendors to extend the service offering.  Hold third parties accountable to minimum standards
    • Ability to support the voluntary benefit sales process with a thorough understanding of sales techniques and market requirements
    • Ability to effectively communicate and make effective presentations; strong relationship building skills as demonstrated by building and maintain relationships and networks.
    • Strategic thinker, good problem-solving skills, ability to make sound business decisions.
    • Effective human relations skills
    • Demonstrated understanding of voluntary, worksite product enrollment procedures
    • Strong knowledge of Group Insurance products and services.  Proven expert in all pre-sales aspects of the voluntary benefits marketplace, specifically in the industry approach to marketing, pre-sale activities and enrollment of Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity and Accident products.
    • Personal computer skills including knowledge of various software packages (MS Office Suite, etc.). Strong knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel
    • Strong understanding of the laws governing the insurance industry
    • Strong understanding of corporate policies, philosophies and objectives

    • Salary Range: Minimum: $105,730 MidPoint: $140,090 Maximum: $174,450
    • Pay commensurate with experience.
