    outhwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the SWIC Educational Employee full-time position of Instructional Support Technician.

    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this skilled technical position is responsible for the maintenance of instructional computer labs, smart classrooms and student laptops at the Belleville campus, Scott AFB, PSOP, East St Louis, West Main and other SWIC locations. Work involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting all hardware, software and networks in the computer labs and smart classrooms including performing service calls, installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting all hardware, peripherals and software. Work also involves implementing district-wide technical standards and providing technical support and training for students, faculty and staff. Following instructional support guidelines, work directly and independently with administrators, faculty and staff to maintain a stable classroom and lab network environment district-wide. Individual must perform highly technical duties with considerable independence including workload management during prime evening and Saturday classes. Work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with modification to cover Saturday events when necessary. Duties will involve close interaction district-wide with the Instructional Technology Manager, Director of IT Equipment and Licensing, the Instructional Services Coordinator, Instructional staff including administrators, deans and faculty, technicians at SWGCC and Red Bud campuses, Network Services and Help Desk Technicians. Instructions and directions are received from the Instructional Services Coordinator.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Associates Degree in related field plus 3 years of related full-time work experience is required.
    2. Minimum of three (3) years experience supporting PCs, (hardware, software and network), and peripherals is required.
    3. Thorough working knowledge of major computer software including Windows 10, Microsoft Office and Outlook, Microsoft Networking and Internet browsers is required.
    4. Understanding of functional concepts involved in remote desktop support is required.
    5. Understanding of functional concepts involved in PC and Macintosh hard drive imaging is required.
    6. Thorough understanding of desktop security principles and practices is required.
    7. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff.
    8. Ability to perform quick turnaround solutions to minimize impact to instruction.
    9. Experience in supporting Apple Macintosh OS X is preferred.
    10. Interpersonal skills are necessary. Must enjoy helping people of all ages and have the responsibility and self-discipline to work with limited supervision.

     

    STARTING PAY AND HOURS

    $37,426 annual salary - 37.5 hour work week

    WORK LOCATION

    Primary location Southwestern Illinois Justice and Workforce Development Center in Belleville IL with district wide responsibilities
