    Job Description

    Southwestern Electric is seeking an experienced lineman for our Greenville location. As a lineman in Greenville, you'll be making a difference in our Bond, Fayette and Madison counties. Our linemen get a lot of variety in their work. From distribution and transmission to overhead and underground to building and maintaining our own substations and everything in between, our linemen are responsible for all of it.     QUALIFICATIONS
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A Journeyman Lineman must possess and exhibit the ability and desire to perform duties promptly and correctly as well as the ability to work cooperatively and as a team member and an exceptional understanding of electricity.
    • Must hold a Journeyman Lineman card.
    • Class-A CDL required and maintained.
    • Mathematical/technical aptitude.
    • Proficient in Rural Utility Services (RUS) construction design specifications.
    • Must be willing to attend any schooling the Cooperative deems necessary.
    • Must possess a thorough knowledge of electric utility safety rules and regulations.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    A journeyman lineman card is required to occupy this position. The ability to operate a tablet computer as well as a personal computer using Microsoft applications is highly desirable. To be successful in this position, a candidate must have extensive knowledge of electric utility operations as well as mathematical skills.


    CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
    A valid Journeyman Lineman card as well as an Illinois Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. This position requires Flagger Certification, Fork Lift Certification as well as CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.
