  • Triad High School Job Fair - May 4, 2023

Sometimes it is tough for a high school student to find their first job.  The Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce tried to make it an easier process for the students.  “Our Chamber members understand that high school students are just getting started in the job market” said Dawn Mushill, Executive Director.  “Many employers have jobs that fit perfectly for their age group so they signed up for this event” said Mushill.

On Thursday, May 4, the Chamber held their Second Annual Triad High School Job Fair.  Triad teachers prepared the students by providing resume assistance and encouraged the students to register prior to the event.  Students submitted their resumes so that the information would be available to potential employers.  This year’s event brought job opening for positions such as life guards, housekeepers, receptionists, lawn care staff, animal care, tellers, servers, clerks, medical records, restaurant staff, retail sales, residential data collectors and much more.

Local 392 wanted to provide some reality for the students.  They provided students with a set of glasses that would simulate the students being three stories high, while wearing heavy gear.  The students also were able to visit with the Mid-America Carpenters to talk about their apprenticeship opportunities and job availability.  The Troy Fire Protection District brought firefighter gear so the students could try the gear on.  The firefighters also spent some time with the students who stopped by their table.

The Triad High School staff went above and beyond to make the event possible.  The event was held in the gym where they had set up tables, chairs and plenty of students.  The employers came with jobs, snacks and promotional items.  The Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce was proud to bring this event to the community.
