    ANNOUNCEMENT:  Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for the full-time 12-month faculty position of Wellness Advocate. 

    POSITION DESCRIPTION: In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this full-time, tenure-track, faculty position of a licensed mental health professional involves the management of a multi-campus social services program to include delivering mental health services to students, compliance-based health and wellness assessment, as well as creating and evaluating programming.  This position is responsible for providing direct mental health services to students in the form of counseling/therapy and crisis intervention.  The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and have experience conducting suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and providing counseling and therapy.  This position will provide direct one-on-one appointments with students, assess their needs, provide community referrals, maintain of confidential case records, research and compose necessary data reports.  Responsibilities include district-wide prevention programming for students and the college at-large.  District-wide services are required.
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling is required.

    2. Illinois LCSW or LCPC in Illinois within 2 years of employment is required.

    3. Three years of direct clinical mental health experience is required.  Prevention and education experience is preferred  Higher education experience is preferred.

    4. Comprehensive domestic violence/sexual assault training to be completed within one year of hire.

    5. Knowledge of local/regional social service agencies is preferred.

    6. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.

    7. Proficiency is Microsoft Office Suite is required.

    8. Experience with report and survey writing is preferred.

    9. Excellent written and oral communication skills to include program planning for diverse populations are preferred.

     
    SALARYThis is a twelve-month position with the salary determined by placement on the case salary schedule and an adjustment for the twelve-month schedule.  For example, the minimum 2025-2026 starting salary at Step 1 on the Master’s Degree column is $78,471.  The actual salary is determined by educational level and placement on the appropriate salary schedule.
