Description:
The Troy Fire Protection District is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Full-time Paramedic. This position is responsible for providing high quality prehospital advanced life support that includes patient evaluation, treatment and stabilization to the injured or ill patient. A Paramedic has a comprehensive knowledge base and can assess and provide care for a broad range of medical emergencies as approved by the local EMS Medical Director within the scope of practice of the Anderson Hospital EMS System and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Essential Duties:
Assist with vehicle and equipment maintenance, station maintenance, public education, public relations, public health safety programs, emergency medical service training, rescue, extrication, demonstrations, instructing and any other activity that would benefit the Troy Fire Protection District and the general public.

Requirements:
1. High School Diploma.
2. Current Illinois Paramedic License at time of hire.
3. Current Anderson Hospital EMS System Participant or reciprocity.
4. Meet all Illinois Department of Public Health Licensure requirements.
5. Passing Score of 80% or better on an EMS Skills pre-employment examination.
6. Valid Illinois Class B Driver’s License within 45 days of employment or equivalent.
7. Must possess communication skills both verbal and written.
8. Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the duties of a full-time Paramedic.
9. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and physical.
10. Ability to perform duties in extreme environments.
11. Ability to work 24 hour rotating shifts as well as overtime.

Prospective candidates that meet the minimum requirements for testing will proceed to a practical and written examination as well as an oral interview.
