Summary of Position
Conducts the apprehension, rescue and control of sick, injured, at-large or abandoned animals, both wild and/or domestic, as found within the jurisdiction of Madison County; conducts investigations into ordinance or statutory violations, animal cruelty and neglect cases, and issues violation warnings and court tickets as appropriate. Interacts with the public, other outside agencies and organizations representing the Madison County government, perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma and a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Must have the ability to obtain a Certified Euthanasia Technician license issued by the State of Illinois. No animal control, or animal experience is required but is preferred.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to wet or humid conditions, extreme heat, extreme clutter and unsanitary conditions. This includes both animals and humans. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. An employee will also work around many animals and because of that the employee will be exposed to dander and other allergens found on the animals and in the environment. Employees are frequently required to walk, run and sit. Must have full use of both hands and legs. The employee is required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
