  • Unearth a Story: Tri-Township Public Library Hosts Prehistoric Summer Reading Kick-Off

(Troy, IL) – The Tri-Township Public Library District is kicking off "the best season of the year" with a morning of prehistoric proportions! On Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, families are invited to Tri-Township Park (Pavilion #10) to help "Unearth a Story" and celebrate the launch of the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge.

The park will be crawling with dino-themed fun, including bounce houses for jumping explorers, bubbles, and balloons. Attendees are also encouraged to keep their eyes peeled and cameras ready, as rumor has it some of the park’s largest prehistoric residents have been spotted wandering near the pavilion for face-to-face encounters. As a special treat, any attendee who shows their Summer Reading Challenge registration can snag free ice cream for breakfast.

To beat the lines, the library encourages participants to pre-register on the Beanstack app or visit library staff for on-site sign-up assistance. For more information, visit troylibrary.org or call 618-667-2133.
