TWM - Structural Engineering Intern

TWM may hire for this position in the spring/summer of 2026. We typically seek Civil Engineering Students looking to work part-time to full-time over the summer to gain experience in Structural Engineering.

Our highly qualified Structural team pursues and accepts both ordinary and not-so-ordinary projects. Using a combination of advanced technical knowledge, practical design, and an understanding of constructability, we conceive unique solutions that can be built practically. Experience Level: Rising junior or senior
Schedule: 15-20 hours/week (spring), 32-40 hours/week (summer)
Location: Based in Columbia or Swansea, IL or Columbia, MO

Essential Job Functions:
• Participate in the direct drafting and design of bridges and other structures under the guidance of licensed Structural Engineers
• Assist in preparation of plans, specifications and estimates
• Work with engineers of all experience levels to produce innovative and high-quality solutions
• May assist with site/field inspections

Qualifications Desired:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s program with structural emphasis
• Excellence in studies and strong desire to learn
• Ability and experience with CAD (MicroStation and Revit preferred), spreadsheets (Excel), and general structural analysis software preferred
• Team-oriented and self-motivated
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently
• Strong competency in math
• Willingness to work hard
• Attention to detail
• Interest in unique structural design challenges in addition to more commonplace projects
