    Salary: $60,413.00 - $89,598.00 / Year

    Description

    The primary function of the Road Supervisor is to monitor and supervise the quality and performance of ACT’s fixed route and demand responsive services on the street and at transfer centers. Furthermore, the position supports ACT’s purpose and objectives by respecting and adhering to all policies and procedures of the Agency.
     
    Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

    •      Monitors driving performance of fixed route and demand responsive drivers to assure adherence to published schedules, routes, and company policies.
    •      Investigate Agency vehicular accidents (e.g. prepare drawings, writes descriptions, takes photographs).
    •      Investigates and resolves problems including difficult passengers, unsafe stops, temporary detours, and missed transfers.
    •      Conducts driver performance audits through on bus and undetected monitoring to assure safe driving practices, proper wheelchair securement, positive passenger relations, adherence to fare collection procedures.
    •      Investigates backing locations and resolves bus stop locations issues for drivers.
    •      Monitors’ driver compliance with vehicular inspection policies.
    •      Monitors the performance of the timed transfer and arranges turn backs, detours, and other techniques to keep the system on time while ensuring passengers are able to make their transfers.
    •      Conduct special on time performance surveys, passenger ride checks, park ride counts as needed for Fixed Route and DAR services.
    •      Monitor and assist in the enforcement of ACT’s zone fare system.
    •      Operates two-way radio system in accordance with established company rules and regulations to communicate with base information relevant to the safe and prompt movement of the transit vehicle (e.g., reporting disruption of service such as vehicle accidents, street closures, mechanical problems).
    •      Serves as an ombudsman and service representative for ACT.
    •      Be aware of the potential safety and security factors throughout the transit facility and follow all applicable policies and procedures of the Agency. Responsible for reporting any known or potential safety and/or security factor immediately to an appropriate supervisor, including any employee not following the policies and/or safety procedures.
    •      Attends work regularly. 
    Non-Essential Functions
    •      Serves as a backup driver for fixed route and door-to-door service in the event of accidents, sickness, or other situations where the scheduled driver is not available to operate the vehicle until another regular driver can be called.
    •      Serves as a backup dispatcher, telephone operator and scheduler in the door-to-door system in the event of staffing shortages.
    •      Performs other duties as assigned.
    Requirements
    •      High school education or equivalent.
    •      Ability to type and compose multi-paragraph reports.
    •      Ability to maintain, in a confidential manner, all information received.
    •      Strong written and oral communication skills.
    •      Basic Mathematical ability (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, calculation of percentage, and use of ratio and proportion, mathematical functions with time).
    •      Must have strong interpersonal skills handling various conflict situations.
    •      Experience using Micro Soft Word Software applications.
    •      Possess valid Class B CDL driver’s license with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
    •      Maintain a clean driving record.
    •      Clean and neat appearance.

    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

    Normal working conditions for this position are typical of a public environment. This is a salaried position requiring a capacity to work varying shifts and to work beyond scheduled hours when needed to meet critical deadlines. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Travel to various destinations within the regional area is frequent.
     
    The physical requirements of the position include sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and/or other office equipment.  Must have ability to remain stationary for long periods of time.  Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person, radio or over the phone. Must have ability to carry up to 30 pounds (e.g. money bags and boxes of timetable distributions).  Must be able to kneel down to floor to secure wheelchair securement equipment and get up without difficulty.  Also must be able to push wheelchairs and customers weighing up to 300 pounds across flat ground and up short ADA approved ramps. Must be able to pass a D.O.T. physical examination.
