Job Title: Transit Network Technician
Status: Non-Exempt Full Time

Salary: $26.47 - $37.06 hourly
Description
The primary function of the Transit Network Technician is to perform safe and cost-effective maintenance, repair, preventive maintenance, calibration, installation and removal of video security, Wi-Fi, and fare collection equipment owned and / or operated by ACT / MCT. Furthermore, the position supports ACT’s purpose and objectives by respecting and adhering to all policies and procedures of the Agency.
Essential Functions includes but are not limited to:
- Maintains, repairs, and installs updates on video system server and software. Administers wifi, wimax and video networks on bus systems.
- Performs non-scheduled repairs as directed. This includes servicing and replacement of cameras, wiring, fare collection systems, and onboard IT equipment.
- Daily spot checking of video, IT and electronic communication systems for functionality and effectiveness.
- Diagnose and repair on-board fixed route and paratransit CAD/AVL systems.
- Conducts diagnostics, repairs and calibrations of all systems associated with the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
- Wireless mobile router configuration, removal, installation, antenna replacement, segmentation of attached devices, Port rules and configuration by port.
- DCU repairs, replacement, diagnostics and connectivity.
- Head sign updates, repairs, diagnostics,
- Notifies the shop foreman of repairs or problems requiring additional or unusual maintenance work.
- Utilizes diagnostic equipment, computer systems, applications and tools.
- Records all work completed and / or in progress along with parts / materials into the computerized maintenance system.
- Reads and interprets technical information pertaining to systems installed, serviced, repaired and maintained.
- Stays current on required certifications.
- Stays current on latest practices as applicable to the Agency’s needs including proper safety practices.
- Keeps his / her workplace clean, orderly and safe.
- Be aware of the potential safety and security factors throughout the transit facility and follow all applicable policies and procedures of the Agency. Responsible for reporting any known or potential safety and/or security factor immediately to an appropriate supervisor, including any employee not following the policies and/or safety procedures.
- Attends work regularly prepared to perform the functions of the positions.

Requirements
- Associate’s degree in electronics or related field or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- CCNA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic network and system administration required.
- Possess valid driver’s license.
- Experience using computer systems and applications.
- Possess knowledge of proper safety precautions and use of safety equipment.
- Clean and neat appearance.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Normal working conditions for this position are typical ventilated garage environment. The position is exposed to high noise levels, oil, grease, cleaning agents, fuels and all types of weather conditions. Capacity to work beyond standard work hours when needed to address system maintenance needs.
Physical requirements of the position include a full range of motion in all extremities. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to manipulate paper and operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Possess the ability to maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., a systems control cabinet). Must be able to walk one mile and work standing, climbing, bending and stooping. Position may require performing tasks while lying flat on back or while arms are lifted above head. Must be able to pass and obtain pre-employment physical and drug screen.
