Lateral Requirements

• Must have 2 years of experience as a full-time sworn certified law enforcement officer with a municipal, county, or state police department. 
• Pass background check, medical/physical screen, psychiatric evaluation, & polygraph

• Must be 21 years old
• Valid Drivers License
• Proof of passing POWER test within 6 months prior to written exam
• Pass background check, medical/physical screen, psychiatric evaluation, & polygraph

• 12hr schedule (84hr pay period)
• Health/Vision/Dental
• Paid vacation/Personal days off

• IDOT Overtime available
• Potential Opportutnites: DEA/TFO, Drone Program, SRO

• Starting Yearly Salary: 
  • ​Laterals: $79,563
  • Entry Level: $74,059
  • (4% contract increase in May 2026)
